Episode #61: Eat My Words
Hello, this is BLT Eigo, brought to you by BLTnetwork.com. I’m your host and English Coach, David Hylton.
In an earlier episode, I told you about some strange hair-care ideas, such as beer and mayonnaise conditioners. Well, a BLT Eigo listener, who I’ll call Doctor T, told me that using mayonnaise as a conditioner isn’t such a strange idea after all. In fact, it’s actually a very good conditioner for two reasons.
First, the egg bonds with the hair to make it strong and shiny.
Second, the acid in the vinegar brings the hair back to it’s acidic, or san-sei, pH after washing with shampoo, which is usually alkaline or, in Japanese, arukari-sei.
And I thought mayonnaise was only good on BLT sandwiches…. Well, I guess I have to “eat my words,” or admit that I was wrong about mayonnaise.
(What about the beer?)
Oh, right, beer conditioner…. Doctor T said it’s probably not a very good conditioner… but it is useful as a gentle hair bleach. Maybe that’s why my hair is turning gray so fast, huh?
(laughing)
OK…OK. Good Job!
Thanks for joining this episode of BLT Eigo. See you next time right here on BLTnetwork.com. Bye.
